Jermaine Dupri Leaves Def Jam Records
Written by DJ Special Blend from Chicago on January 13, 2009
Two years ago, Jermaine Dupri took the position of President of Island Records’ Urban Music Division.
He is now stepping down.
JD was hired in February of 2007 to oversee the Urban division for the the label and report directly to Motown chairman “L.A.” Ried and Island Music president Steve Bartells.
Island Def Jam created TAG records, which has to do with Procter & Gamble’s TAG brand. This collaboration allow So So Def’s artist to promote music and TAG’s body spray together through different media forms.
JD’s departure from Def Jam will not effect his relationship with TAG Records.
