It wasn’t just your ordinary Saturday night at the United Center.
With the 1991 championship team in attendance, the Chicago Bulls set a new franchise record with 18 made three-pointers during their 118-100 win over the Utah Jazz.
Derrick Rose got off to a blistering start, as he scored 17 of his 26 points in the first quarter, which included five three-pointers (ties career-high).
Most impressively though, the Bulls won their second game in as many nights without the services of injured forward Carlos Boozer (ankle), as they are 13-7 on the season when Boozer is inactive.
The game featured an electric halftime ceremony honoring the 1991 championship team, while Michael Jordan had no problems prediciting strong success for the current club by predicting “six more championships”.
Joakim Noah agreed with Jordan’s comment to an extent:
“You’ve still got to go out there and stay hungry, stay driven. Everything that’s happened so far is because of hard work, and we’ve got to keep doing it.”
With Saturday’s win, Chicago pulled into a first-place tie with Boston for homecourt advantage throughout the playoffs with 17 games to go.
The two teams will meet for a 4th & final time in the regular season on April 7th in Chicago.
