Despite a woeful season by his Minnesota Timberwolves, Kevin Love was able to make league history on Wednesday evening in Minneapolis.
Love scored 16 points & grabbed 21 rebounds to surpass Moses Malone with his 52nd consecutive double-double, which is now a new NBA record.
Although Love set the record for most double-doubles after the NBA-ABA merger, he will try now to surpass Elvin Hayes, who had 55 in a row from 1973-74.
Love’s last non double-double came on November 19th, 2010 as he was held scoreless & grabbed just 7 rebounds in a 112-95 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Minnesota (16-50) is currently tied with Sacramento (15-47) for the 2nd worst record in the NBA this season.
