Boston spoils Big Three’s debut with 88-80 win..

The Boston Celtics were able to overcome a 31-point effort from LeBron James to beat the Miami Heat 88-80 in the 2010 NBA season opener on Tuesday evening from TD Garden.

James didn’t get much help from his two new superstar teammates, as Dwyane Wade & Chris Bosh combined to score just 21 points on 7-of-27 (.259) shooting.

Boston was led by Ray Allen’s 20 points, while Paul Pierce added 19 points & 9 rebounds despite briefly leaving the game with a lower back injury.

Rajon Rondo dished out 17 assists, while Shaquille O’Neal had a solid Celtics debut with 9 points & 7 rebounds in 18 minutes of action.

In other action from Tuesday night, Portland got 24 points & 6 assists from Brandon Roy to help them beat Phoenix 106-92, & the Lakers were able to squeeze past Houston 112-110 on Steve Blake’s game-winning three with 18.6 left.
