Comedian Bob Marley broke the world record for longest comedy act when he walked the stage for 40 hours, as he raised money for charity.
PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Comedian Bob Marley raised more than $12,000 for the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital in Portland, Maine, by joking his way to a record standup act that lasted 40 hours.
The Guinness people (not the beer) were there to make it official.
Marley got a thumbs-up from an official from the Guinness Book of Records on Thursday night at Portland’s Comedy Connection, where he broke the previous record of 38 hours, 6 minutes, held by Lindsay Webb of Australia.
With a name like Bob Marley, I thought he would be more likely to break the record for smoking weed, as opposed to telling jokes.
Whatever the case, he was up there like a “Buffalo Soldier” getting his comedy on. He had the crowd yelling “Get Up, Stand Up” for 40 hours, and even though it was a long 40 hours, when he was done, there was no more “Waiting in Vain.” The crowd clapped so loud for so long, they had him asking, “Is This Love?”
