Vikings’ Sidney Rice out 8 weeks following hip surgery..

The Minnesota Vikings will have to spend at least half of the 2010 season or more without their top pass-catcher, as Sidney Rice is expected to miss 8 weeks following hip surgery on Monday.

It’s a huge blow for Brett Favre & company, as Rice enjoyed a breakout 2009 season with 83 receptions for 1,312 yards and eight touchdowns, which earned him his first trip to the Pro Bowl.

Percy Harvin is also experiencing migrane issues, which could leave Bernard Berrian as the team’s top wideout entering the season opener in a little over two weeks against New Orleans.

The team also agreed to terms on Tuesday with free-agent wide receiver Javon Walker, as the one-time Pro Bowler has been injury prone since his last 1,000 yard season with Denver in 2006.
