Dustin Pedroia’s brief return to the Boston Red Sox has ended, as he will go back on the 15-day DL with left foot discomfort.
The 3-time All-Star & 2008 AL MVP has already missed 44 games this season with a broken left foot, as he was just 5 home runs away from tying a career-high (17 in 2007) in 82 fewer games.
The Red Sox have been using a combination of Jed Lowrie (.305 with 2 HR’s & 7 RBI) & Yamaico Navarro (.333 with no HR’s & RBI) in his place.
Entering Saturday’s action, Boston is 5.5 games behind Tampa Bay for the AL Wild Card lead.
