Boston’s Daniel Nava hits a grand slam..in first major league at-bat!

Red Sox rookie leftfielder Daniel Nava became just the 2nd player in Major League history to hit a grand slam on the 1st pitch, as it helped Boston rout Philadelphia 10-2 on Saturday afternoon from Fenway Park.

His parents got to see the historic moment happen in person, and Nava admitted that the grand slam “didn’t sink in” until he rounded 2nd base.

“It’s funny. They really hadn’t seen me play in the last two years. They were in Indianapolis to watch me play on Friday and I told them I might be playing up here.”

The only other player to do it on one pitch? Kevin Kouzmanoff, who hit a grand slam as a member of the Cleveland Indians against Texas on September 2nd, 2006.
