One of baseball’s all-time greats is hanging it up after 22 seasons.

Ken Griffey Jr. is definitely due for a 1st-ballot Hall of Fame induction after a major league career which saw him hit 630 home runs & become one of baseball’s best centerfielders during his prime.

One of his proudest moments came during the 1995 American League Divisional Series, as he scored the game-winning run in the 11th inning to help the Seattle Mariners overcome an 0-2 deficit to stun the New York Yankees in 5 games.

He also hit his 500th career home run on Father’s Day of 2004 as a member of the Cincinnati Reds against St. Louis, as the Busch Stadium crowd gave him a standing ovation after the historic moment.

Griffey made his return to Seattle for the first time as a visitor on June 22nd, 2007 & surpassed Mark McGwire for 7th-place on baseball’s all-time home run list with a multi-homer game against his old team two days later at Safeco Field.

Home run number 600 came on April 4th, 2008 at Land Shark Stadium in Miami, as he received a standing ovation afterwards.

His final walk-off hit was on May 20th, 2010 as his RBI single won it for the Seattle Mariners against Toronto 4-3 after facing a 2-run deficit to start the inning.

Ken Griffey Jr. was a 13-time All-Star, a 10-time Gold Glove winner, 7-time Silver Slugger winner, 3-time Home Run Derby champion & the 1997 American League’s Most Valuable Player.
