Blackhawks return to Conference Finals!

Written by on May 12, 2010

For the first time in 20  years, the Chicago Blackhawks will make their 2nd straight Conference Finals appearence as they are set to take on the top-seeded San Jose Sharks beginning Friday evening.

These teams finished so evenly during the regular season that only one win separates them (Chicago had 52 wins to San Jose’s 51) & 1 point (San Jose’s 113 to Chicago’s 112).

This will be just the 2nd time in franchise history that the Sharks have made the Conference Finals, as they are looking to reach their 1st Stanley Cup Final ever.

The Blackhawks feature two of the top five scorers in the postseason with Jonathan Toews’ league-leading 20 points & Patrick Kane’s 15 points, while San Jose’s Joe Pavelski is 7th with 15 points.

The only one goaltender that’s been better than Antti Niemi in the playoffs is the Sharks’ Evegeni Nabokov, as he is allowing just 2.43 goals per game, but has 56 fewer saves than the Blackhawks’ rookie.
