Orlando’s Dwight Howard named NBA Defensive Player of the Year!

At 24 years old, Dwight Howard has already accomplished something that’s never been done before in NBA history.
He is now the youngest player ever to win multiple Defensive Player of the Year awards after the official announcement came on Tuesday afternoon, just one day before the Orlando Magic will play in Game 2 of their 1st-round playoff series against the Charlotte Bobcats.
Teammate Vince Carter joked around that he would always try to dunk on Howard before joining Orlando last summer:
“I was always trying to dunk on Dwight. If you ask him, he’ll say, no, but it happened a few times. But whatever, we won’t talk about that. You always have to know he’s going to be there. He has great instinct. It’s always on your mind. You know if you beat your man, you still have to get around Dwight.”
Howard is just the 7th player in league history to win the award twice, as he joins Hakeem Olajuwon, Alonzo Mourning, Ben Wallace, Dikembe Mutombo, Dennis Rodman & Sidney Moncrief.
All of the above mentioned players with the exception of Mutombo & Moncrief have all won NBA titles.
