Former NBA player Jayson Williams is expected to receive a 18-month prison sentence on Tuesday in his role in a 2002 death of hired driver Costas Christofi.
Williams’ shotgun went off during a tour of his New Jersey mansion, which struck Christofi in the chest & resulted in his death.
The Christofi family later settled with Williams on a wrongful death civil lawsuit in 2003 that was worth $2.75 million.
Jayson retired from the NBA in 1999, but tried to make a brief comeback in 2005 for the CBA. He also owned the New Jersey Storm (part of the National Lacrosse League), who moved to Anaheim, CA & disbanded before the 2006 season.
