Trail Blazers trade for Marcus Camby…

Written by on February 16, 2010

It appears that the Portland Trail Blazers have found a replacement for the injured Greg Oden, as they acquired Marcus Camby from the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday in exchange for Steve Blake & Travis Outlaw.

Camby now gives the Blazers a serious defensive presence, as he ranks 2nd in the NBA in rebounds (12.1) & is tied for 6th in blocked shots (1.9).

Even in his 14th NBA season, Marcus is still one of the game’s best rebounders as he’s already had six games this season with 20 or more boards, including a recent effort on February 3rd (20 rebounds) in a 103-97 loss to Atlanta.

Travis Outlaw might get a chance to start for the Clippers if the team decides to trade 3rd year forward Al Thornton, but Steve Blake will now be the backup point guard to Baron Davis.

Ironically, the Clippers & Blazers are meeting tonight at the Rose Garden with both teams using just 10 players on each side due to today’s trade.
