The Cleveland Cavaliers gave LeBron James some frontcourt help on Wednesday, as they acquired 2-time All-Star forward Antawn Jamison from the Washington Wizards.
In return, Washington will receive center Zydrunas Ilgauskas, forward Al Thornton, a future 1st round pick & the draft rights to Emil Preldizic, while the Los Angeles Clippers will receive Drew Gooden.
The Cavaliers will also get Sebastian Telfair, but it’s unsure if they will keep him on their roster as Mo Williams is close to returning to playing.
Jamison has always been a dependable scorer, as he’s averaged 19.6 PPG or higher in each of his past 6 NBA seasons.
Cleveland would be best suited to start Antawn, as he has averaged 21.0 PPG in his career as a starter compared to just 12.8 PPG off the bench.
Pending a passed physical, Jamison could make his Cavalier debut on Thursday night in a nationally televised game against Denver, as Cleveland will put their NBA best 13-game winning streak on the line.
