The New York Jets pulled off the playoff’s biggest shocker, as they ended San Diego’s 11-game win streak & now are just 1 win away from reaching the Super Bowl.
The Jets trailed for the entire game until Mark Sanchez hit Dustin Keller for a 2-yard touchdown early in the 4th quarter.
San Diego tried to rally on Philip Rivers’ 2-yard touchdown scramble with 2:14 left, but Norv Turner decided to try an onside kick rather than kick it away.
It didn’t work, as Kerry Rhoades wound up with it. Thomas Jones convereted a 1st down, and the Jets began celebrating in front of a stunned crowd at Qualcomm Stadium.
For the 2nd straight game, Shonn Greene was dominant as the rookie back from Iowa rushed 23 times for 128 yards & scored a touchdown.
Philip Rivers was solid with 27 of 40 completions for 298 yards, but also threw a pair of interceptions.
Nate Kaeding also missed three field goals, which hurt the Chargers’ chances of winning.
The Jets will now advance to the AFC Championship Game, where they will try to knock off the Colts for a 2nd time this season.
