Indianapolis Colts’ quarterback Peyton Manning became the league’s first 4-time winner today, as he was announced Most Valuable Player for the 2009 NFL season.
In the other three seasons (2003, ’04 & ’08) that Manning won MVP, his Colts failed to reach the Super Bowl.
Indianapolis will open up next weekend at home against either the Cincinnati Bengals, New York Jets or Baltimore Ravens in the Divisional Playoffs.
The other three quarterbacks that received first-place votes were New Orleans’ Drew Brees, Minnesota’ Brett Favre & San Diego’s Philip Rivers.
