Barak Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize

Written by on October 9, 2009

What a pleasant surprise!

President Barack Obama won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday in a stunning decision designed to encourage his initiatives to reduce nuclear arms, ease tensions with the Muslim world and stress diplomacy and cooperation rather than unilateralism.

Critics say its a little too soon, but the Nobel Committee is impressed by the general impact the president has had on the world.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee praised Obama for “his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.” But critics — especially in parts of the Arab and Muslim world — called its decision premature.

Whatever the case, let’s hope the impact continues to get things going in the correct direction.  Hate all you want.
