Jets trade for WR Braylon Edwards..

Written by on October 7, 2009

It appears that Braylon Edwards will get a chance to prove himself for a playoff contender.

The Cleveland Browns ended their ties with the controversial wideout on Wednesday, as Edwards was traded to the New York Jets in exchange for wide receiver Chansi Stuckey, linebacker Jason Trusnik & two undisclosed draft picks.

Jets head coach Rex Ryan said that Edwards will make his team debut on Monday night against Miami & also added the following comment on his new Pro Bowl wide receiver:

“I’ve had to defend against him twice a year in Baltimore, and that’s not fun. He is a matchup nightmare.”

New York now has a legimate deep threat for rookie Mark Sanchez, who committed four turnovers during their 24-10 loss to New Orleans on Sunday.

There is a chance Edwards could explode against the Dolphins, as he is averaging 120 yards per game in three career Monday Night meetings.
