Breaking News: Chargers’ Shawne Merriman arrested for battery

This isn’t the way Shawne Merriman wanted to begin his comeback season.
The 25-year old San Diego Chargers linebacker was arrested on Sunday for “choking and restraining” model & reality TV sensation Tila Tequila.
It is unsure if the two are currently dating, but the 27-year old Tequila claimed that Merriman’s attack started when she tried to leave his residence.
This is Merriman’s 2nd controversial incident since becoming a member of the Chargers, as he was suspended 4 games during the 2006 season for violating the NFL’s steroid policy.
Commissioner Roger Goodell has yet to issue a comment regarding Merriman’s arrest, as he could now face a possible suspension either from the NFL, or from San Diego.
