Brandon Webb to undergo season-ending surgery…

After appearing in just 1 game all season, 3-time All Star pitcher Brandon Webb of the Arizona Diamondbacks has decided to go with shoulder surgery in hopes of returning to the starting rotation in 2010.
Webb hasn’t pitched in a game since April 6th, which means that the Diamondbacks will have to make a difficult decision on whether or not to exercise a $8.5 million option on him at the conclusion of the World Series.
Before the injury, Brandon Webb was deemed as one of baseball’s best pitchers, as he won a career-high 22 games for Arizona last season despite their near .500 record at 82-80.
Webb’s injury comes as a disappointment for the Diamondbacks, who are getting a career year out of Dan Haren, as he ranks 3rd in the NL in innings pitched (148), 4th in ERA (2.19) & strikeouts (146).
