In the first big trade before Thursday’s NBA Draft, The San Antonio Spurs acquired 8-year veteran forward Richard Jefferson from the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for centers Fabricio Oberto, Kurt Thomas & forward Bruce Bowen.
Oberto then got dealt to the Detroit Pistons in exchange for forward Amir Johnson.
Jefferson does have some Texas ties, as he was drafted by the Houston Rockets with the 13th overall pick in the 2001 NBA Draft before being traded to the New Jersey Nets.
Jefferson also lost in his only NBA Finals appearance in 2003 to his new team, the Spurs.
Richard Jefferson also brings proven playoff experience to San Antonio, as he has averaged 15.1 points in 78 career postseason games.
The trade could mean that Milwaukee is content on re-signing forward Charlie Villanueva, who is a restricted free agent come July 1st.
