For the first time since 2006, a Game 7 will decide a world champion as the Detroit Red Wings & Pittsburgh Penguins are set to meet in the Stanley Cup Finals.
History seems to favor Detroit tonight, as they have been involved in FIVE Stanley Cup Game 7’s in franchise history & have won 3 of them. (1950, 1954 & 1955)
This will be Pittsburgh’s first-ever Game 7 during the Stanley Cup Finals, who will try to beat a Detroit team that has won 11 of 12 games during the playoffs at Joe Louis Arena.
Friday’s Game 7 could spell the end of Chris Chelios’ career, as he will look to retire with a 4th Stanley Cup victory.
