After turning down surgery for a partially torn ligament & tendon in his right elbow, Cincinnati Bengals’ quarterback Carson Palmer has deemed himself healthy for the 2009 NFL season.
Palmer appeared in just 4 games last season for the 4-11-1 Bengals & completed just 58.1% of his passes for 182.8 yards per game, which are both career lows.
The 5th year pro from USC was also sacked 11 times in just 4 games last season, which almost surpassed his entire total (17 sacks in 16 games) for 2007.
Carson’s best season to date was in 2005, when he totaled career-highs in quarterback rating (101.1), completion percentage (67.1%), & passing touchdowns (32).
Palmer also helped the Bengals reach the AFC Playoffs in 2005 before suffering a season-ending knee injury in just the 2nd play from scrimmage of their Wild Card loss to Pittsburgh.
If Carson Palmer has any setbacks, recently-signed quarterback J.T. O’Sullivan is 2nd on the Bengals’ depth chart, while little brother Jordan Palmer is listed 3rd.
