Former lottery pick Charles Rogers was sentenced to 30 days in jail on Wednesday for violating his probation in a stemming domestic violence case from September 2008 against his fiancee, who is the mother of his 4 children.
On the football field, Rogers is a former 1st-round bust who was selected with the 2nd overall pick of the 2003 NFL Draft by his hometown Detroit Lions.
Rogers has appeared in just 15 career games & caught 36 receptions for 440 yards with 4 receiving touchdowns for Detroit.
Ironically, Rogers’ best game to date was his last NFL appearence, which was against Cincinnati on December 18th, 2005.
In that game, Rogers caught 3 receptions for 71 yards (career-high) & also included a 35-yard touchdown grab, which was also a career-high during the Lions’ 41-17 loss at Ford Field.
Rogers has confirmed that he will attempt an NFL comeback once his jail sentence is up.
In another note, the Lions will retire #93 in the memory of defensive end Corey Smith, who was presumed dead in a boating accident earlier this month in Florida.
