Rams release wide receiver Torry Holt..

Torry Holt’s 10 year tenure in St. Louis has come to an end.

The Rams released the 7-time Pro Bowl wideout & 1-time Super Bowl Champ on Friday, as Holt is now free to sign with any NFL team.

Even though Holt is coming off one of the most disappointing seasons of his career (caught just 64 receptions for 796 yards in ’08), he is the only player other than fellow free-agent receiver Marvin Harrison who has multiple 1,600 yard campaigns.

The Chicago Bears could use Holt’s services as the team is desperately seeking a top-notch wide receiver.

If this does happen, it would reunite Holt with Bears’ head coach Lovie Smith.

Smith served as the St. Louis Rams’ defensive coordinator from 2001-2003, which included a Super Bowl apperance & Holt’s best NFL season to date.

In 2003, Holt caught 117 receptions for 1,696 yards, averaged 104 yards per game, totaled 84 first downs & caught 12 receiving touchdowns, which are all career-highs.
