The 42-year old host to 6 NHL Stanley Cup Finals, 4 NBA Finals, 2 NBA All-Star Games & 2 NHL Games took a final curtain call on Friday, March 13th of 2009.
In the final NBA game to be ever played at the Spectrum, the Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Chicago Bulls 104-101 in front of 17,563 fans.
2nd year 76er forward Thaddeus Young will forever be a part of history, as he scored the final bucket at the Spectrum.
While Philadelphia looks to inch closer to a playoff berth, this loss definitely hurt Chicago as they continue to struggle on the road.
The Bulls have lost all 4 of their road games this month while allowing 109.3 points per game defensively. (Chicago is allowing 102.5 PPG for the season)
Overall, the Bulls have lost their last 7 road games & have not won back-to-back tries away from the United Center since late January.
Former Sixer legends including Julius Erving, Moses Malone, Bobby Jones, Marc Iavaroni, Earl Cureton, Wali Jones, Clemon Johnson & Reggie Johnson were all in attendance for the Spectrum finale.
