BREAKING NEWS: Bulls acquire Brad Miller & John Salmons in 3 team, 7 player deal..

The Chicago Bulls made the first deal on the eve of the trading deadline, acquiring 2-time All-Star center Brad Miller & guard/forward John Salmons from the Sacramento Kings.

The Bulls sent forwards Drew Gooden, Andres Nocioni & Cedric Simmons to Sacramento & also sent Michael Ruffin to the Portland Trail Blazers.

To complete the deal, Portland sent forward Ike Diogu to Sacramento.

Miller will make his 2nd stint with the Bulls after spending the 2000-01 & 2001-2002 seasons in Chicago.

Brad Miller gives the Bulls a legimate offensive 7-foot scorer who is also a very solid perimeter shooter.

Could he perhaps give the Bulls another three-point threat? This season, Miller has hit 20 of 43 (46.5%) 3-point attempts. It is unsure when Miller will make his season debut for the Bulls, as he has been sidelined since February 1st with an abdominal strain.

John Salmons hopes to continue on his impressive season, as he is currently averaging 18.3 points per game, 3.7 assists per game, shooting 82.9% from the free-throw line & hitting 41.9% of his three-point attempts, which are all career-highs.

As for the departing Bulls, Drew Gooden has been injured for almost a month (strained left groin) & hasn’t appeared in a game since January 19th against New York.

Sacramento will be Gooden’s 5th different team in his 9th NBA season & will send him back to the Western Conference for the first time since spending his rookie year with the Memphis Grizzlies.

Andres Nocioni’s scoring has gone down in each of the past 3 seasons after averaging a career-high 14.1 points per game during the 2006-07 season.

One of Nocioni’s finer moments as a Bull was recording a 25 point & 18 rebound game in his playoff debut during a 103-94 win over Washington on April 24th, 2005.

Michael Ruffin has not appeared in a game this season for Chicago & hasn’t played in an NBA game overall since April 16th, 2008. (Ruffin was a member of the Milwaukee Bucks)

Cedric Simmons appeared in just 11 games this season for Chicago with his last appearance coming on January 30th against Sacramento.

Chicago is currently 2.5 games behind Milwaukee for the Eastern Conference’s 8th & final playoff spot entering tonight’s action.
