Black History Month: Musician Randy Muller

Giving big-ups to musician Randy Muller today in honor of Black History Month.
Mr. Muller is one of the founders of the 1970’s funk band Brass Construction. He had additional success producing the acts Skyy and Cameron.
We had the privilege to interview Mr. Muller in spring of 2006, so we are posting U-Hype XIX in honor of Black History Month, and to continue our countdown to U-Hype eXtra Large.
Mr. Muller’s work has been sampled dozens and dozens of times by major Hip-Hop acts including Dr. Dre, Salt n Peppa,De La Soul and Queen Latifah just to name a few. In this episode of U-Hype we listen to popular music by King T and Too Short that both contain samples of Mr. Muller’s work.
We also listen to “Movin'” by Brass Construction. Not only did it hit number one on the R&B chart in 1976, it was the song that was playing in the background when they read the telegram about James Evans being killed on Good Times.
