Troy Murphy to sign with Boston..

Written by on March 1, 2011

The Boston Celtics will pick up a key frontcourt player for their quest to lock up the Eastern Conference’s top seed, as 11-year veteran Troy Murphy has agreed to sign with the team for the remainder of the 2010-11 season.

Despite connecting on just 4 of 23 (17.4%) three-pointers in his 18 games with New Jersey this season, Murphy does have a career-mark of 39.1% from beyond the arc and has averaged 11.8 points with 8.5 rebounds in 639 career games.

Providing that Murphy passes a physical, he could make his Celtics debut tomorrow night as Boston will host Phoenix.
