Deron Williams’ double-double not enough as Spurs win 106-96..

Deron Williams showed some promise in his Nets debut on Friday evening, but it couldn’t dethrone the team with the NBA’s best record.
The San Antonio Spurs improved to 27-2 at home with a 106-96 win over the New Jersey Nets, but needed a big second half to do so.
The Nets actually led 54-53 at halftime, but a big 35-18 third quarter edge by the Spurs helped them remain undefeated at home this season against Eastern Conference opponents (10-0).
Williams scored 14 points & had 12 assists in his first game as a Net, which even prompted owner Mikhail Prokhorov to delay a scheduled Vancouver ski trip so he could watch his new franchise point guard in person.
Williams & Prokhorov are expected to meet soon during New Jersey’s upcoming trip to London on March 4th for a two-game series against the Toronto Raptors, as the two sides will discuss extending Williams’ contract beyond 2012.
