After turning down a deal from the Miami Dolphins, it looks as if Jim Harbaugh will remain on the West Coast after all.
The San Francisco 49ers agreed on Friday to a 5-year deal with Harbaugh, as he’ll try to lead the team back to the postseason in 2011 after an eight year absence.
Harbaugh’s surprise decision came just days after his star quarterback Andrew Luck decided to return to Stanford for his junior year.
He was dubbed the nickname “Captain Comeback” for engineering two straight come-from-behind wins during the 1995-96 playoffs & nearly sent Indianapolis to the Super Bowl as his famous Hail Mary attempt against Pittsburgh fell just short.
One of Harbaugh’s first big decisions will be finding a new starting quarterback, as Alex Smith will be a free agent after a disappointing 5-year run as a 49er.
