The NBA’s scoring leader delivered a nice Christmas Day present for everyone in attendance on Saturday evening, as Kevin Durant scored 44 points to help lead the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 114-106 win over the Denver Nuggets from the Oklahoma City Arena.
Durant finished just 3 points shy of tying his career-high, which was 47 points scored against New Orleans on February 17th, 2009.
Denver gave it their best effort even without leading scorer Carmelo Anthony, as he was not with the team for a 2nd straight game following the death of his sister.
Chauncey Billups scored 30 points to lead the Nuggets, as Nene added 21 points & 12 rebounds.
Thunder head coach Scott Brooks had the best quote for Durant’s big night:
“He was on fire. He wasn’t even hitting the rim.”
