In a game that featured sloppy play from both sides, the New York Knicks connected on 12 three-pointers to beat the Chicago Bulls 103-95 from Madison Square Garden.
Amar’e Stoudemire & Raymond Felton scored 20 points apiece for New York, who shot 42 of 79 (52.3%) from the field.
Chicago lost despite great games out of Carlos Boozer (26 points, 19 rebounds) & Derrick Rose (25 points, 8 assists & 7 rebounds), but did turn the ball over 21 times.
Knicks head coach Mike D’Antoini knows the importance of Saturday’s win, as it gives New York their first season-series win over Chicago in 9 years:
“It’s real important because we’re chasing them. Hopefully we can do that. One thing is you know we play them three games. We won two so we get the tiebreaker, so now that helps. It’s the little things. A lot of basketball to be played but you’ve got to beat these teams, at home especially.”
Derrick Rose downplayed his second-half exchange with Amar’e Stoudemire, when words were exchanged following a hard foul by Stoudemire:
“That’s basketball. He was trying to stop me going to the hole. It’s just a basketball play. It’s going to get physical, especially if someone keeps driving. That’s what he’s supposed to do.”
The win moves the Knicks to 5th in the Eastern Conference, where they are just 1 game behind the Bulls for 3rd place.
