Bears clinch division with 40-14 rout over Vikings!

It was quite an evening at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

Brett Favre went from a surprise last-minute starter to spectator after a concussion knocked him out in the 2nd quarter, while Devin Hester made NFL history with his 14th kickoff/punt return for a touchdown during the Chicago Bears’ 40-14 blowout win over the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night.

Jay Cutler rebounded from his worst game of the season with a strong effort despite a shot to the chin, as he completed 14 of 24 passes for 194 yards & threw for 3 touchdowns.

Matt Forte also had a solid game, as he rushed for 92 yards & needs 135 in his final 2 games to crack 1,000 for the first time since his rookie season in 2008.

Hester made history with his 64-yard punt return in the third quarter to break Brian Mitchell’s NFL record, and promised to the media after the game that “it’s the record breaker, but there’s going to be a lot more. I guarantee you that”.

Chicago will now focus to next Sunday’s game against the New York Jets, as they need a win to move closer to clinching the #2 seed in the NFC, which will earn them a 1st-round bye in the playoffs.

This is the Bears’ first division title since 2006, which resulted in a Super Bowl XLI appearance against the Indianapolis Colts.
