Derek Jeter will now have the chance to finish his career in pinstripes.
The New York Yankees agreed with the 11-time All-Star & 5-time World Series championship-winning shortstop on Saturday to a 3-year deal that’s worth up to $51 million, with a $8 million player option for 2014.
Jeter had somewhat of a down 2010 season, as he failed to bat over .300 for the 6th consecutive year (Jeter’s .270 batting average is the lowest since his rookie season in 1995).
Overall though, he’s had a storied career as a Yankee with 234 home runs, 1,135 runs batted in, 1,685 runs scored and a career batting average of .314 in 2,295 games played.
Jeter also has a career .309 batting average in 147 career postseason games, which includes a .321 average in 38 World Series games.
