Mattie T’s Game 4 Recap of the 2010 World Series

The Giants threatened in the 1st, as Andres Torres drew a lead-off walk against Rangers starter Tommy Hunter & stole 2nd base during Freddy Sanchez’s at-bat.
Sanchez grounded out to Michael Young, which brought up Aubrey Huff.
Huff grounded out to Mitch Moreland at 1st base, but moved Torres to third on the play.
That left it up to Buster Posey, who grounded out to Elvis Andrus at shortstop to end the scoring chance.
San Francisco was at it again in the 2nd after Cody Ross drew a lead-off walk from Hunter.
3 batters later, Edgar Renteria singled to right as that put runners on 1st & 3rd with 2 outs for Nick Schierholtz.
Schierholtz nearly drove in the 1st run of the evening, but Josh Hamilton made a magnificent sliding catch in centerfield to end the inning.
The Giants finally put up a few runs in the 3rd, as Torres hit a lead-off double past a diving Moreland at first base & down the right-field line.
Sanchez then grounded out to Young at third base, as it was unable to advance Torres on the play.
Huff proceeded to launch a 2-run homer (1st of World Series) to make it a 2-0 San Francisco lead.
San Francisco added onto their lead in the top of the 7th, as Renteria hit a 1-out single off Texas reliever Darren Oliver.
After Schierholtz struck out looking, Torres hit an RBI double to score Renteria & make it a 3-0 game.
Sanchez then grounded out to Oliver to end the inning.
The Rangers put together their first scoring rally of the game in the bottom of the 7th, as Josh Hamilton reached safely on Uribe’s 1-out fielding error at 3rd base.
2 batters later, Nelson Cruz singled to put runners on 1st & 2nd with 2 outs for Ian Kinsler.
Kinsler lined out to left center, which ended the inning.
The Giants scored another run in the 8th, as Buster Posey launched a 1-out solo homer (1st of World Series) off Rangers reliever Darren O’Day to give San Francisco a 4-0 lead.
Madison Bumgarner (1-0) gets the win for San Francisco after a masterful performance, as he pitched 8 shutout innings while allowing just 3 hits.
Tommy Hunter (0-1) takes the loss for Texas after pitching just 4 innings, as he allowed 2 runs on 5 hits.
The Giants will look to capture their first World Series title in 56 years on Monday evening at 6:57 PM cst, as Tim Lincecum (3-1, 2.79 ERA in postseason) will take the ball against Cliff Lee (3-1, 2.51 ERA in postseason).
Lincecum got the win in Game 1, as he pitched 5 2/3 innings & allowed 4 runs on 8 hits while walking two & striking out three.
Lee will look to put up a better performance than he did in Game 1, as he got shelled for 7 runs (6 earned) on 8 hits in just 4 2/3 innings of work.
