Breaking News: Broncos WR Kenny McKinley found dead from suicide attempt

Written by on September 20, 2010

The Denver Broncos & the rest of the National Football League are in mourning on Monday evening, as 2nd year wide receiver Kenny McKinley is dead at the age of 23 from an apparent suicide.

McKinley appeared in 8 games during the 2009 season, as he was mostly used as a kickoff & punt returner.

He was placed on injured reserve August 5th with a knee injury, which ended his 2010 season.

He had a stellar college career at the University of South Carolina, as Steve Spurrier said that McKinley “was the best receiver he’s ever coached”.

That’s a very high mark of praise coming from Spurrier, considering that McKinley starred alongside Sidney Rice, who is now a Pro Bowl receiver for the Minnesota Vikings.

McKinley is the 3rd different active Broncos player to pass in the past 3 years, as he joins Damien Nash (2007) & Darrent Williams (2007).
