Damon turns down return to Red Sox, will stay in Detroit…

Not even a chance to return to the team that helped him win his only World Series ring could convince Johnny Damon to leave the Motor City.
Johnny Damon rejected returning to the Boston Red Sox, as the 35-year old outfielder will remain with the Detroit Tigers for the remainder of the 2010 season.
Damon’s return to Boston would have been an awkward one, after he stated in 2005 that he’ll “never play” for the Yankees in 2005 before actually signing with them later that winter.
He also took a shot at his former team during his first season as a Yankee, saying that “Moving to New York was the best decision I ever made. Now I’m in a place that actually wants me.”
Damon is hitting .272 in 112 games this season with 7 home runs & 41 runs batted in for Detroit.
