At just 23 years old & with one season of pro football under his belt, San Francisco 49ers’ running back Glen Coffee decided that he wasn’t happy with it.
Coffee stunned the team with his abrupt retirement from the NFL on Friday, as no official decision was given on his decision.
He might of been involved in a verbal incident just Thursday, as running backs coach Tom Rathman was reportedly peeved at Coffee for missing a block against rookie linebacker Mike Balgoun.
Since Coffee is no longer with the team, Michael Robinson & rookie Anthony Dixon will now battle to win the backup spot behind Frank Gore.
Coffee appeared in 14 games last season for the 49ers & had his only career touchdown on October 11th, 2009 against the Atlanta Falcons.
