Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Johnny Cueto has received the worst punishment following Tuesday evening’s brawl against the St. Louis Cardinals, as Major League Baseball suspended him for 7 games on Thursday.

Cueto was right in the thick of the pile that pushed Cardinals’ pitcher Chris Carpenter into the backstop screen in foul territory & kicked him in the back with his spikes.

Both Dusty Baker & Tony La Russa were also suspended 2 games each, as Carpenter, Yadier Molina, Brandon Phillips & Russ Springer will all receive fines.

Cardinals’ backup catcher Jason LaRue actually suffered a mild concussion & had sore ribs from the brawl, which prompted St. Louis to callup Steven Hill from the minors.

St. Louis currently holds a 1 game lead over Cincinnati in the NL Centrat pennant race, as both teams will meet again Sept 3-5 at Busch Stadium.
