In a swap of big men, the Dallas Mavericks traded for Tyson Chandler while dealing Erick Dampier & his expiring $13 million contract to the Charlotte Bobcats as part of a five-player trade.
Chandler also has a hefty contract ($12.7 million owed for next season), but he’s expected to help the Mavericks’ frontcourt along with recently acquired 7-foot center Brendan Haywood.
Tyson’s numbers have declined since he averaged a double-double in 79 games with New Orleans in 2007-08, as he scored 11.8 points & grabbed 11.8 rebounds per game.
As for Dampier, he has only averaged double-figures in points & rebounds just once in his 14-year career (2003-04 for Golden State with 12,3 PPG & 12.0 RPG).
