The AL Central-leading Detroit Tigers have suffered a huge blow, as they lost hard-throwing reliever Joel Zumaya for the season after fracturing his right elbow during their 7-5 win over Minnesota.
Zumaya heard “a loud and disgusting pop” after throwing an 8th inning pitch to Delmon Young, which was fouled off.
In the past 3 seasons, Zumaya has appeared in just 81 of a possible 486 games for Detroit.
