USA Wins Group C in Dramatic Fashion

In the 91st minute, Landon Donovan came through with a rebound that he poked in the left side of an empty net, and the Americans advance to the sweet sixteen of the FIFA World Cup Tournament.
The USA was almost eliminated as an undefeated team. They came terribly close to being tied for the third time in a row, and meanwhile England was leading their game one-nil. So… the pressure was on.
A questionable call in the first half lead to a USA goal being revoked for the second game in a row. The frustration was setting in at the 90 minute mark, and it seemed a great injustice would be placed upon the best team in Group C.
But Donovan came through to be today’s hero. The script couldn’t have been written better if it were a Hollywood movie.
This is definitely time to celebrate, but the work is not done. Good luck to the United States in the next round!
