Not even a chance to potentially coach LeBron James could lure Tom Izzo to the NBA.
Izzo will remain with the Michigan State Spartans, where he has served as a head coach since 1995 & has taken them to Six Final Four appearences, which includes a 2000 National Championship win over Florida.
He did admit that his no-contact rule with upcoming free-agent LeBron James was a “big factor” into making his decision, as the NBA’s much-anticipated free agency craze begins on July 1st.
Izzo also said that the reported $30 million, 5 year deal was never offered to him from Cleveland Cavaliers owner Daniel Gilbert.
His NCAA Tournament winning percentage of .745 is 3rd on the all-time list, trailing only Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski (.778) & North Carolina’s Roy Williams (.753).
