In a Game 6 that was tightly contested all the way, Patrick Kane put his name in the record books with an overtime goal to end the NHL’s longest title drought, as the Chicago Blackhawks are now Stanley Cup Champions for the first time in 49 years!!!
22-year old captain Jonathan Toews was named playoffs MVP after an incredible postseason that saw him among the league leaders with 29 points to go with a gold medal that he won as part of Team Canada during the winter Olympics in Vancouver.
Antti Niemi also put together an impressive showing in the playoffs, as he is just the 4th rookie goalie in the past 43 years to win a Stanley Cup.
The Blackhawks’ championship parade is scheduled for Friday in downtown Chicago, with a start time still to be announced.
Congratulations again to Joel Queenville’s team, as the Stanley Cup is headed back to the Windy City!!!!
