Mattie T’s Game 4 Recap of the 2010 Stanley Cup Finals

Despite a late 3rd period surge from the Chicago Blackhawks, the Philadelphia Flyers held on for a 5-3 win on Friday evening from the Spectrum, which now ties the Stanley Cup Finals at two games apiece.
The Blackhawks got within a goal on two separate occasions Friday after Patrick Sharp’s 1st period goal & Brian Campbell’s 3rd period goal, but a late empty-net goal by Philadelphia center Jeff Carter now makes it a best-of-3 series, with a crucial Game 5 coming up Sunday evening from the United Center in Chicago.
The shots on goal were pretty even for the entire game (Chicago had a 34-30 advantage), but the Blackhawks also had seven different players who drew penalties compared to only 4 for the Flyers.
Philadelphia head coach Peter Laviolette senses confidence throughout the series, even when his team was down 2 games to none:
“I said when we left there… I thought we could have won both games. I like our game. I like what we’re doing. It’s going back and forth quick both ways. Guys are really competing out there. But nothing changed for us. Our game hasn’t changed. Just the score changed.”
Game 5 will be played Sunday evening at 7PM cst from Chicago, as the winner will be 60 minutes away from possibly clinching the Stanley Cup.
