Veteran linebacker Zach Thomas has decided to call it quits Thursday after a 13-year NFL career, with 12 of the seasons spent with the Miami Dolphins.
Zach was able to play his final season with his hometown Dallas Cowboys, but signed a 1-day deal in order to retire with the team that made him into a star.
Thomas’ 133 tackles in 1998 led him to his first ever Pro Bowl selection, which triggered a $22.5 million, 6 year deal that made him the franchise’s highest paid player in team history over legendary quarterback Dan Marino.
He’s one of three players to have 100 or tackles in each of his first 10 seasons in the NFL & ranks 4th all-time in tackles among linebackers.
