The Chicago Blackhawks were able to hold off the Nashville Thunder 5-3 on Monday evening in Game 6 of the 1st round playoffs, as John Madden’s empty-net goal with 8 seconds remaining clinched their trip to the Western Conference Semifinals.
The Blackhawks & Thunder were involved in a wild 1st period that combined for 22 shots on goal & 7 goals total, which surpassed each of the first four games in this series.
Patrick Sharp & Jonathan Toews each added a goal & 2 assists for the Hawks, who have now won 5 straight games in an elimination playoff meeting.
For Nashville, they are now 0-for-5 in playoff series during their 11-year existence.
This will now set up a re-match with the Vancouver Canucks, as the Blackhawks beat them in 6 games in last year’s Western Conference Semifinals.
