Thanks to his monster new deal, Philadelphia Phillies’ 1st baseman Ryan Howard will now be the 2nd highest paid player in baseball behind only Alex Rodriguez after agreeing to a $125 million, 5-year contract extension on Monday afternoon.
Howard has been one of baseball’s top sluggers, as he’s hit over 40 home runs & driven in over 130 runs in each of his last 4 seasons.
The 2-time All-Star can also miss in bunches, as he’s averaged 180 strikeouts or higher in each of his past 4 seasons as well.
During his 6-year career with the Phillies, Howard has won the NL Rookie of the Year award (2005), NL Most Valuable Player award (2006), two NL home run titles (2006 & 2008) & three NL RBI titles (2006, 2008 & ’09).
