The Miami Dolphins were able to pull off a blockbuster deal on Wednesday, as they acquired 2-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Brandon Marshall from the Denver Broncos in exchange for a 2010 2nd round pick & 2o11 2nd round pick.
Despite breaking the NFL’s record for most receptions in a game with 21 catches in a December 21st, 2009 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, Marshall’s last season in Denver was a controversial one.
It started in the pre-season when he didn’t fully commit to practicing follow off-season hip surgery, which prompted head coach Josh McDaniels to suspend him for the final two preseason games.
Marshall was later suspended for the final game of the regular season for conduct detrimental to the team with the Broncos’ playoff hopes on the line, as they lost 44-24 to the Kansas City Chiefs which eliminated them from postseason play for the 4th straight year.
The Dolphins & Marshall agreed on a $47.5 million, 4 year contract today after the trade was announced.
